He started a church under a tree in Bindura in 1960 and preached for seventy-five years without stopping. It now has more than three million members in over 160 countries.
Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti was born at Ngaone in Chipinge on 5 May 1923, and founded Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa under a gum tree at Bindura on 12 May 1960, after breaking with the Apostolic Faith Mission.
Known internationally as Forward in Faith Ministries International, the church now claims more than three million members in over 160 countries. He preached for seventy-five years, wrote more than a hundred books, and founded a children's home, a business fellowship, a women's fellowship, the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University in Bindura and Mbuya Dorcas Hospital in Harare. He was unusual among his contemporaries in preaching work and conduct rather than miracles. He died on 5 July 2023, aged one hundred.
