The first Black barrister in the country, who led ZANU for twelve years and was killed by a car bomb in Lusaka.
Herbert Chitepo was a Zimbabwean lawyer and nationalist who led the Zimbabwe African National Union from July 1963 until his death.
With Josiah Tongogara he planned the guerrilla campaign inside Rhodesia from 1966. He was assassinated by a car bomb in Lusaka on 18 March 1975.
